No, this isn’t about the economic crisis. But actually…it kind of is… So I did some spring cleaning today and I’m having a really big problem: I have like no clothes! Seriously, though, I’m not the type of person who has like millions of things in their closet and says they have nothing. This is where it leads to the economic crisis…I need to do some serious damage at stores while not doing too much damage to my bank account. I already look at Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Bloomingdales, Saks, and Barneys pretty much religiously but does anyone have any suggestions of where to shop that’s not that expensive!??! I could really use some advice.
Thanks!
Zoe

Merry Christmas everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted recently. I was really busy with my family and stuff like that. But I got a lot of clothes that I’m excited to wear and a new camera that hopefully I’ll be able to use to post pictures of items that I own instead of just stuff online. I went shopping with my sister the other day and we came across some amazing sales. I got some really great stuff at Barney’s for basically half off of the usual price. So, here are some of my favorite sales right now. Stock up! Do something for the recession: did you know that it is better to buy about the same about you were before, maybe a little less. Don’t buy too much but don’t buy too little! If you think about it, it makes sense. If you are buying food, you are keeping the farmers in their jobs. So, anyways, go out and buy a little something. I’m not trying to make this sound like I’m finding an excuse to go shopping. But just try to do a little something for those who have close to nothing left. Here are my suggestions. Enjoy!

Intermix– Intermix is having a great sale. This Stella McCartney dress was going for $1,295 and is now $509.

Urban Outfitters– Urban’s sale is on a limited amount of stuff, but most of it is pretty good. I especially like this Charlotte Ronson Bolero. It was at first $281 and is now $199.99.

Piperlime– Piperlime shoe store is having a really good sale. I would never be able to wear these boots because my legs are so annoyingly short, but these over the knee boots started at $750 and are now on sale for $369.99.

Saks– Saks is having an amazing sale. I love a lot of the Saks designers so this sale is heaven to me. Here is a Diane von Furstenberg dress (Before: $365 Now: $219) and also a Robert Rodriguez one (Before: $539 Now: $215).

Barney’s CO-OP– This always has great deals. Here is a great Diane von Furstenberg dress (Before: $465 Now: $279) and top (Before: $245 Now: $149).

Shopbop– Shopbop is having an amazing sale. These following items are great deals! The dress by Foley + Corinna was at first $440 and is now $132. The other dress started at $550 and is now $385.

My friends and I had a free day yesterday. So, we went to Bloomingdales and got chocolate from Valentine’s and went ice skating at Wollman Rink in Central Park. Braving the freezing weather was totally worth it when we saw the Bloomingdales and Barney’s windows. The Barney’s windows all had peace themes and Bloomies was all Christmasy. Here are some pictures from Bloomies from my Blackberry.

I love this one because of the naughty and nice list. So cute!

This one is so cute. At the windows, all of these displays have some sort of movement. In this picture, the kids on the sleds are swaying and moving and stuff.

This one is my favorite. It’s the father coming home from war on Christmas eve. So heartwarming!

This one is in front of Bloomingdale’s in the 1960s. It’s cute last minute shopping type of stuff. And if you look closely, behind the couple on the left is Santa ringing his bell for the Salvation Army. In New York, when you go to midtown, you can not only hear the bell ringing all of the time, but you can also smell the chesnuts being roasted on open fires.

Trends for Fall

This season, it all depends on 10 essentials. Here are my following recommendations for fall trends:

1) Flat Knee High Boots

-These shoes go with almost everything and can be used as casual, or in some cases more fancy. Some good recommendations for flat knee high boots can be found at Urban Outfitters, Aldo, and Piperlime.com. (Example: Minnetonka Triple Fringe from Urban Outfitters $98.00.)

2) Heeled Boots

-Another good buy for shoes are heeled boots. They can be knee-highs or also ankle boots.

For store suggestions, see Flat Knee High Boots. (Example: Tribeca By Kenneth Cole from Piperlime $70.00.)

3) Leather Jacket

-Leather jackets are perfectly paired with a dress or just jeans. They can be expensive, so make sure that it’s a good quality one from a store like Intermix or Urban Outfitters. If you want one that’s not as expensive, you can try H&M. (Example: Nathan Leather Bomber Jacket from Intermix $890.00)

4) Anything Plaid

-Whether it’s a flannel shirt or dress, a cute coat, or a sweater, plaid is a big print this year. You can get a flannel shirt from L.L. Bean or Urban Outfitters. (Example: BDG Fitted Buffalo Plaid Tunic from Urban Outfitters $58.00)

5) Colored Jeans

-These pants are fun and add color to some of the dreary fall days. I have purple, blue, red, and grey pants from a company called Tripp Jeans found at HotTopic.com. Don’t be fooled by the website’s “punk” theme. The pants are part spandex, part denim so they are really comfortable. (Example: Trip Turquoise Suspender Pants from Hot Topic $39.00.)

6) Knit Berets

-Urban Outfitters is the place to go for slouchy wool berets. They’re colorful, fun, and pretty reasonably priced. (Example: Chunky Waffle Beret $14.99.)

7) Oversized Sweaters

-Oversized sweaters are so comfortable and so often worn. My sister and I get ours not only from Target, but also the men’s section at gap. They’re so comfortable and so reasonably priced. (Example: The V-Neck sweaters from Gap $19.99.)

8) Doubled Breasted Coats

-I’ve found that my favorite coat is from a boutique in the Hamptons. Double-breasted coats add a classy look to any outfit you are wearing. Some good stores include Blufly.com, Barney’s, and Urban Outfitters. (Example: Hilary Radley Tweed Wool Coat from Bluefly $118.00.)

9) Wool Sweaters

-A wool sweater is a good excuse for a fun patterned sweater. My favorite is the kind with toggles. For example, the BDG Intarsia Shawl Collar Cardigan from Urban $78.00.)

10) Fur

-The Last trend for fall is fur. Fur jackets and coats are very in this season. The best place to buy them is at vintage stores. But for example, here is one from Intermix: Faux Leopard Fur Jacket $298.00.
