My Very First Political Entry… Probably my only one. Just to warn you. There probably won’t be very many more of these in the future. ūüôā

The Stock Exchange. These few words, in the past few days, have become some of the scariest ones out there. There is no way to predict what’s going to happen next. I’m not big on politics much at all. I mean, I vote, but I’ve never really been one to take a stand. On this blog entry, here are some ideas I’m going to try to start doing with my life. I just learned today, that at my alma mater high school, 21 children won’t be coming back next year because their parents can no longer afford the tuition. What if these people were the next doctors to cure cancer? They shouldn’t be deprived of a good educations. Here are some good ideas to help out our country:
1) Don’t spend as much money. Becoming more frugal is a good way to save up what you’ve got, but it also helps in the long run.

2) Take a stance for something and believe in it. If you love animals, become aware of your community and help out at the ASPCA or something! Those people can use all of the help they can get.

3) Donate old clothing or books to people. They can really use it.

Also, now that I’m doing all of this talky stuff, I might as well say what I believe is one of the biggest problems in the world today: Global Warming. I know people have heard this a lot recently, but it’s all very true. Here a good ways to be eco-friendly.

1) Stop using our world as one huge garbage can. Don’t pollute. Animals are dying because of things we carelessly dump into the ocean and on the sidewalks.

2) Stop Smoking! I know it’s hard to stop, trust me i know. But when you do, here’s what you’ll accomplish: you won’t die as quickly (always a plus), you’ll have more energy, and the world will be a lot cleaner. A main reason a lot of people smoke is to curb their appetite. Well, would you rather look like a skinny yet old, wrinkly, haggy 30 year old or a fit one with all of their looks still in tact?

3) Unplug anything that’s not being used. If you go away for the weekend or even just out for the day, unplug coffee machines, toasters, clocks, lights, etc. All of this energy is being wasted which is costly and… just plain old wasteful.

4) Reuse paper. Recycle it, too. Instead of throwing out a scrap copy of something, rip it into bits and use them as reminder notes, or whatever you can think of. NOTE: You can recycle your old magazines, too! Just rip out the annoying mail-in ads. Also,  Get e-mail ads from stores instead of catalogues.

5) Don’t kill bees! They’re going extinct. With no bees, there’d be less pollen transportation. Without that, fewer trees! It’s just plain old logic, people.

Fall is coming. And, like any other New Yorker, I’m scouting out the newest trends. Whatever keeps you warm and is fashionable, I’ll take. I can’t wait for the smell chestnuts roasting in midtown, the sight of your breath, the Macy’s day parade, the Christmas trees at Rock center and Lincoln center, and of course, the first snow of the year. There’s nothing more comforting to me than sitting by a fire in Hamptons, listening to Christmas carols, having Hot Cocoa, and decorating our Christmas tree. Anyway, before all of the holidays begin, here are some of my suggestions for ways to keep you warm:

The Perfect Pinstriped Pant (casual or fancy)- Urban Outiftters

Grey Jeans (paired with many cute coats)- Urban Outiftters

Blue Jeans (these are really comfy)- Urban Outfitters

Cords (Very warm, an incessant fall favorite)- Urban Outfitters

A Knit Sweater (Add color to your outfit)- Urban Outfitters

A Comfy Wool Sweater (Love the design on this one)- J. Crew

Andrew Marc Wool Katie Coat (Formal white dress)- Saks

Ellie Tahari Mink Vest (So fashionable and warm)- Saks

Burberry Red Cashmere Coat (Cute for everyday; short)- Saks

Michael Kors Angle Booat (cute for going out)- Neiman Marcus

Fringe Suede Boot (cute for everyday)- Neiman Marcus

Here is list of my favorite places to eat in New York City. They’re magical.

Barney Greengrass– 541 Amsterdam Avenue at 86th Street ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† My favorite breakfast spot in the city. The Lox are fantastic and so are their bagels. It’s a fine size, but gets crowded really quickly. Make sure you get there a little bit before you’re ready to eat.

Pop Burger– there are two: one right next to FAO Schwartz on 58th between Madison and 5th and one between 14th and 15th on 9th (the original) ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† Pop Burger is my favorite american food restaurant in the city. The “Pop Burger” is fantastic. A few mini-burgers with shredded lettuce and a house mayo-sauce is to die for. The lobster roll is also amazing. Its low key and hip environment is captivating. My friends and I loved the 3 different movies being played on the walls. The front is a counter… more like take out. The back is more of a lounge and bar.

Our Place– 81st and 82nd on 3rd ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†¬†The best chinese in the city is… Our Place. The waiters are so nice. You can’t help but overeat at this restaurant. The steamed vegetable dumplings, chicken with broccoli, and peking duck are all to die for.

Mughlai– 75th and Columbus ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† The best Indian I’ve ever had. The chicken tikka masala is so amazing, and so is the onion naan.

CrumbsРMultiple locations include 78th and 3rd and 75th and Amsterdam                                               The best cupcakes in the city. For the cupcake menu click Here.

I couldn’t just pick one Italian restaurant so here are my suggestions:
Mediterraneo- 66th and 67th on 2nd.                                                                                                       Great homemade pastas as well as great sauces. Good pizza. Love the goat cheese salad there.

Serefina’s– 79th and Madison ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†¬†Their Caesar Salads and pastas are great, but their pizzas are AMAZING. Love the thin crust here.

Patsy’s¬†THE BEST PIZZA IN THE CITY! My favorite is the one in Harlem, but the one near Bloomingdales is great for a post-shopping bite. In Harlem, the coal burning pizza oven gives it a chewy and crispy crust. Their crust is thin. Their sauce is tangy. The best pizza. Ever.

If you want some serious Italian culture, go to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Right next to Fordham University, this street, I’d say, is the heart of Italy in New York City. I used to go with my whole family a few times ¬†year. There’s one open market with a bunch of men in the front rolling up cigars. The entire area smells like a mixture between cheese, ham, cigars, and tomatoes. Where else can you come home with a huge hunk of¬†parmesan¬†cheese that will last you a month?

Any questions/ suggestions? Want me to give you advice for any type of food in the city? Comment!

My favorite type of therapy: Retail. When you put on your favorite outfit or item of clothing, you feel like you rule the world. Here’s my advice for the next time you need a pick-me-up: throw on an outfit that makes everyone stare… and flaunt it. Here are some cute new Items I’ve come across:

Marchesa Two Toned Ruffle Dress- Neiman Marcus

Women’s Merona Medow Ballet Flats- Target

Flannel Red Shirt- Top Shop (Best to buy vintage)

Ruffled Shirt- American Eagle

Sweetheart Bustier Dress- Fred Flaire

Nylon Tricot Figure Skater Dress- American Apparel (I like charcoal, but there are other colors)

Do you ever get that feeling where no matter what you do, no matter what you say, you’re just never accepted? Like you try so hard without feeling like you’re overdoing it?

Relationships have always been hard to handle. Like a natural disaster, everything looks beautiful on the outside, but underneath, something is brewing. All of the sudden, things go wrong at a drop of a hat. Something that you know you can’t fix. So what do we do? What do we do when our “perfect” lives turn out to be¬†disastrous?

I love my boyfriend. He’s a really great guy, and the past 7 months we’ve had together have been amazing. He was devoted to me. I mean, what else could a girl want than love and devotion? But, he got¬†promoted¬†at work and I’ve been seeing less and less of him. His attitude and personality have changed too. What do we do when all we know is all of the sudden lost. I can’t help but worry: when my boyfriend tsunami is building up pressure and displacement, is his new job going to cause him to erupt?

I love the outfits the girls wear on 90210 and Gossip Girl. They’re always so chic, flawless, and fabulous. I tried to match some of my favorite outfits at affordable prices and here is what I’ve found.

-Annie on 90210 wears this outfit. I couldn’t find a polka dotted sweater that went with the dress.

-Dress and sweater, both Urban Outiftters

-Jenny Humphrey wears this on Gossip Girl. It love the silouette and the ribbon belt. It was hard to find. I looked on Betsey Johnson with many cute baby doll dresses, but I was determined to find one similar to Jenny’s. This was the best I could find from Victoria’s Secret (with other colors), so I may try a vintage store.

-Annie wears this dress on 90210. I found this turquoise chiffon dress on Urban Outfitters. It isn’t pleated, but it’s cute, n’est-ce pas?

-Serena and Blair wear these really cute backless dresses on Gossip Girl. Paired with skinny belts, these American Apparel dresses (the back is to the right of Blair and Serena) match almost perfectly, but they’re more casual and look extremely comfortable.
